I’ve became aware, sort of a few years ago, that I’m passionate about gay rights because I grew up around a lot of gay men because my mum and dad were friends with a lot of gay guys. And suddenly, I was at school and people were using derogatory, kind of homophobic, terms and for the first time, I was going, “Hmm. Okay, so wait… Being gay isn’t cool with everyone? Some people have a problem with that?” And the idea that someone would be victimized because of it, is so horrendous.

And the fact that I’m in a position to have a voice that’s heard on something like that - or at least draw attention to that - is… I feel very fortunate to be able do so and to help something like the Trevor Project out. It’s an amazing foundation and it’s something I’m incredibly proud to be involved with. If I did nothing else, I’m proud to be a part of that.
